On formal evenings more than a few world-renowned chefs, Sursur Lee, Jamie Kennedy, Fred Oh amongst them, have prepared exceptional culinary delights in this kitchen; comments Sursur Lee, “I could run a 75 seat restaurant out of this kitchen.”

A Garland stove with twin ovens, six burners, grill, griddle and salamander surrounded by solid maple and granite work counters comprise the prep area. Two sub-zero refrigerators, a sub-zero freezer, two refrigerator drawers and two warming drawers support the chef’s every need. A full servery bookends the opposite side of the kitchen. Supplies arrive via a dumb waiter that starts near the staff apartment off the underground garage. A wood burning pizza oven serves as both a source of fun and the architectural centerpiece as it reaches up into the kitchen’s barrel vaulted ceiling: fun, functional and fabulous.

Running under the length of the kitchen is Terrace Room that leads to a large outdoor terrace, the underground garage, the two bedroom staff quarters and the dedicated Home Theatre Room.

The Family Wing on the east side of the house catches the morning sun through floor to ceiling windows and a grand glass brick wall. The area houses two family bedrooms, served by a large pass through bathroom, an exercise/hobby room and an informal sitting room with a vaulted ceiling, wood-burning fireplace and entertainment wall. To the east is a landscaped terrace, to the west access to the main patio deck that runs the entire length of the Gathering Area.

On the lower level there is a large billiards area, a guest suite with en-suite washroom, a home office (or 5th bedroom) a large cedar clad storage room and a 1,200 bottle wine cellar: casual, comfortable and cozy.

Unique Features of Toronto Luxury Homes

The advantage of Toronto Luxury Homes is the many unique features that can be found. One that we looked at had the most amazing indoor pool we have ever seen (see video below!). It was constructed using over sixty tons of beautiful granite from a quarry in southern Ontario. They created bridges, walkways and three waterfalls two with caves where you could sit behind the waterfalls. There is a granite water slide from the hot tub to the pool.

The bottom of the pool was designed to look like the bottom of a shallow lake. The water itself was ‘salt water’, incredibly soft with no ‘stinging’ of the eyes that one finds with ocean water. In this particular pool the water had a ‘proprietary’ treatment to actually ‘energize’ the water. The pool has fiber optic underwater  lighting complete with color wheel to create different ‘moods’. There are underwater speakers no less!

Leading down to the pool is a ‘cottage’ type structure with a cedar deck, that houses a granite clad steam room, a change room with bathroom and a massage room. The front of the ‘cottage’ has an electric grill, warming drawer, refrigerator and dishwasher.

The mechanics behind this beautiful pool are equally impressive. To begin with you enter the pool through double glass doors that are pressurized to ensure that humidity stays in the pool area. This is certainly effective as you would never know from anywhere else in the house that there was a pool there.

The air flow in the pool room is so efficient that there is never any condensation on the many floor to ceiling windows even in sub zero temperatures.

Finally, you would think that with all the glass and hard surfaces that the pool room itsel would be noisy. Not so, due to the special sound absorbing ceiling.

Trails lead through the woods to the top of Mount Baldy, where hikers can view the Chicago skyline on a clear day. It’s quite a feat to make it to the top of Mount Baldy, the steep sandy paths offer an athletic challenge.

Another popular sand dune is one called “Devil’s Slide.” Children love to speed down Devil’s Slide, and the steep dune is a hot spot for sun bathers. It’s located near the main beach of the Dunes State Park. Pinhook Bog is another dunes attraction. It’s the only true bog in the entire state, because no groundwater can flow through the clay soil to access this area. Mosses carpet the bog now, and many unusual plants and flowers grow in this area. In the summertime, Pinhook Bog is open for guided ranger hikes.

Its called a “transit lounge” and most international airports in the world have one. People catching a connecting flight don’t actually enter the U.S. proper by staying in the transit lounge, thus, wouldn’t need a visa. Why would you need to go through customs if you’re only catching a connecting flight? I would go back and ask your ticket issuer. They may have misunderstood your intention not to officially ‘enter’ the U.S. but merely to transit through.
